When we moved aboard our 46-foot sailboat, I had this beautiful vision of cooking healthy, plant-based meals in our little galley…. And of course I had that vision I am a whole foods and raw food chef.. 😂
Instead...
I avoided cooking.
Not because I don't love healthy food.
Not because I didn't want to nourish us.
I avoided it because every time I opened a cabinet, I felt overwhelmed.
I couldn't find what I needed.
Over the years I created inventory lists. I knew what was supposed to be in each locker. I tried organizing. I rearranged things more times than I can count.
Yet somehow it always ended the same way.
The galley felt cluttered.
Packages disappeared behind other packages.
I found myself digging through lockers wondering, "Didn't I already buy that?"
Cooking became frustrating before I ever turned on the stove.
Then, a few days ago, something clicked.
I wasn't looking for another storage container.
I was looking for a system.
A system where every ingredient has a permanent home.
A system that makes it easy to know exactly what I have.
A system that protects food from moisture and pests while making healthy cooking enjoyable again.
For the first time, I feel like I've found that solution.
I haven't finished creating it yet.
In fact, you're catching me right at the beginning.
Over the next several months, while LunaKai is still on the hard preparing for launch, I'm going to completely transform our galley one cabinet at a time.
I'll share what works.
I'll share what doesn't.
I'll show you how I'm organizing every locker, creating an inventory that finally makes sense, reducing food waste, and building a galley that I genuinely look forward to cooking in.
Maybe it will inspire someone living in a house.
Maybe someone in an RV.
Maybe another sailor preparing for their own adventure.
Because I don't think this is really about sailboats.
I think it's about creating a home that works for you instead of against you.
If you've ever opened your pantry and thought, "There has to be a better way," I hope you'll come along on this journey with me.
I have a feeling this simple change is going to transform far more than just my galley.
Would you like to follow the transformation?
Leave a comment with "I'm interested!" and I'll take you along every step of the way—from today's clutter to a galley designed for healthy living, one locker at a time.
Organizing one pantry at a time😉

I use clear plastic boxes for my boat pantry. Everything apart from cans goes into them. Works beautifully, keeps out pests and labels mean crew can find stuff too. Have fun with yours!
My husband has organized our kitchens over the years and I say reluctantly it has made my life easier, once I learn his system!
